After about 3 years I was not doin any kind of workout (the born of my son have killed both my sleep and my back…) in Genuary I thought it was time to start again and get back to a little better and healthier lifestyle. But I soon discovered that in the meantime I have developed some kind of problems with my knees… shit! I have been visited by 3 different orthopedists that gave me 3 different responses: before having injections or being cutted and opened ecc ecc, I choose to follow the one who told me I needed some specific physiotherapy.

Necessary but boring… really boring! I started it, but I also needed to start a challenge with myself: learning longboard skating before my 40 years birthday was just perfect to make my friends laugh. I have been fascinated by longboards since a few years but I really never thought to ride them. But hey, it’s never too late. So I took it – and I take it – very softly cause I dont want to hurt my knees… but this thing is getting me addicted. Milano doesn’t have any hills (except the “Montagnetta”, the only spot for DH) so I’m mainly using the board to move around the city and from my home to my studio. You need to push and push and push and that’s fun and a great workout, but also very tiring if youre not that fitted (like me!)… until I discovered it’s possible to pump the board. What?!? It’s called LDP, long distance pumping. In my case, just pumping ah ah ah. If you’re interested to know what this is, check it out here.

I started hacking my longboard a little bit: I own a cruising Madrid longboard, I love it but the board and it’s standard set-up it’s not the best one to pump. After just a little fixes here and there, I discovered that riding the board was a really different experience: people will tell you that it’s just all about the rider not the board – that’s true – but hey, if you spend money in the proper way… it changes it all! A wack rider like me really can have much more fun. It’s like painting: if you’re an experienced writer you can burn a piece with any crap cheap cans… but using the right spraycans it’s much more easier.

So after the first modifications I decided to keep the board but to change completely my set-up: it took a lot of studing and money and learing “how-to”. I’ve been really helped by the wise advises of people at Longboard Italia Forum and offcourse I studied Pavedwave.org like I was going to have some university exam.

Finally, yesterday I went back home with the “new” board and it’s been one of the most exciting feels in a while! The longboard’s ride is totally changed, it’s like surfing in the street with just half the effort I needed before. The board is so responsive to any small movement I do, that at a first ride I couldn’t believe it and I was almost scared! Yes, it’s less stable but… who cares! If you want to experience the same, this is what you need.
Here’s my set-up, and I know it’s far away to be the best one… but it works great. And if you know how… let me know how I could improve it!

Air by Airone - Molino Dorino BN Crew Hall Of Fame - Milano 2005 This piece was painted at BN Crew hall of fame in Molino Dorino (that’s the name of a Milano’s subway station) during the happening that BN Crew organizes every year. I have painted there quite a few times and it’s been always a pleasure. The meeting has grown up since then, and nowadays it’s the best graffiti writing convention in the city, known as True Skills. Sometimes it still happens at the Molino Dorino hall of fame but in the last years it mostly happened at the old RNS hall of fame in Trezzano (that’s a really nice big spot… check out here the 2012 convention)

Weather was nice and my freestyle sketch was ready in half an hour. Then I relaxed (sketching is so stressing) and I had fun with my friends… just a perfect Sunday!

Normally you would say “painting with a Master” but if your playground is the street, you certainly would use the word “King”. And definitely, a King is much more than a master.

I never met Chris Daze Ellis before October 2004, and it just happened because I had the opportunity to interview him while he was on tour around Europe for some promotional job. When I was younger I spent days studing – and biting – styles and colors that old-school New York writers like Daze invented and developed. And when you’re just a kid, you always wonder how it could be meeting some of those legends… but when you get older and you already have met too many disappointing legends, sometimes you would just like to preserve the idea you had when you were younger. Luckily, Daze showed to be a real King, not only a legend.

After the interview in the open-space studio where he was creating some artworks for his job and where I met some old friends, we later moved to a wall where, together with Ghen, KayOne, Yazo, Thero and Ater we painted some fast pieces… hey, there’s also a short video filmed by Alberto, check it out!

This interview was made in 2004 for Wildstylers.com. It wasn’t supposed to be filmed, but luckily Alberto Scabbia was there and had a camera… and recorded most of it. The place was a basement studio in Milano where Daze was creating some artworks for Timberland brand. Probeat Agency kindly arranged for us a meeting with the artist for a fast interview: vibes around were friendly and relaxed, and the time we spent with Daze has been really nice and interesting. Later on we all moved to a location very near the studio where other friends joined us for a little free-style action.
Yes, lights in the studio look terrible and the audio is quite bad but, as we said, neither us nor Alberto planned to film anything or anyone, so please just take this document as the simple diary of that day.

Aria by Airone - Street Fever 2009 - Romano di LombardiaStyle matters but sometimes colors can elevate a bad piece: sorry, this is not the case!

This piece is just looking bad. It has been painted at Street Fever edition 5, a nice annual convention that used to happen in Romano di Lombardia, near Bergamo. The place was a very big tunnel for cars, so it had some parts better illuminated than others. As I do often, the piece was a freestyle I sketched directly on the wall. I must say that when I finished sketching, it was looking OK. Then something happened: I started adding color to color without any type of plan. The result was an ugly mix that killed everything positive of the original sketch (first ‘A’ wasn’t too bad…).

As it always succedes when you’re doin bad, all around me people was painting incredible nice pieces… mine was looking so old and outdated. I felt like the old man who’s not able to learn how new technologies work. Final verdict: unable 2 upgrade.

THP crew’s Family Business - Spring edition 5/4/2008 - Friendly Milano graffiti writing and hardcore BBQ THP crew is a bunch of old-time friends who grew-up together. We know each other since more than 20 years, time passes and many things changes – we were kids now we have kids – but our fellowship remains the same. It sounds ordinary, but in our case there’s a little detail: half of us is italian, the other half is norwegian. About 2.000 km divide us. It’s a long story to tell, it starts when there were no mobile phones or internet and the only way to stay in touch was to write mails, paper mails… making international phone calls from home was strictly prohibited when we were teen-agers ah ah ah!

Every year THP crew hosts a little party for friends and families to celebrate its story and it’s called Family Business. We drink, paint, drink again, paint again, play some music and cook local cuisine! Family Business can happen in Italy or in Norway but only during 2008 we had 2 editions.

Spring event in Milano was made possible thanks to our friend Alessandro who gave us full access to his walls and later-on to his fantastic garden and BBQ. A nice, perfect hot sunny day for painting. Clok came from Switzerland, special guests like Mambo and Senso joined the party. Police too came looking for some thrills… but sorry, we couldn’t provide any fun. Atomo Tinelli cooked the whole night long and the norwegian posse provided top notch vodkas and traditional Linie’s “akvavit”. Girlfriends got drunk and Ater got lost… the legend tells he has been found by Ale the day after sleeping in street just in front of his piece. Hey, you may want to check out some images… here.
